Repeat Breeders

Especially when you are dealing with environmentally and sexually naive heifers, and you have got sexed semen from your dairy, its obvious that about 50 percent or may be more of them will repeat.
Some may not be completely cyclic, some will have incompletely developed organs.Your inseminator will surely complain about the case of heifer not allowing to pass gun or it becomes difficult to pass the gun sometimes to such an extent that A.I gun will come out tinged with blood..
Real anger in you develops when you see the same cow which you have inseminated 2,3 days back again start to come in heat and stand to be mounted or show some vaginal discharge which is clear and not mixed with blood.
Confusion remain persistent when the inseminator reports that the cow is not cystic at all.
Don't worry at all these all circumstances are normal in a dairy rather not normal physiologically or theoretically but practically you should not worry.
I would suggest
1.Try to note heat efficiently especially and only the standing heat.Never ever rely on secondary heat signs even the clear mucucs discharge cannot figure out that either the cow is fit for insemination or not.
2.Advise your inseminator to check the condition of ovaries and uterine tonicity before wasting the semen.Especially for sexed semen,a relay of 5 min can save your 30 to 60 dollars.
3.Give Lecerilin double dosage if the cow persistently comes into heat.
4. Keep the recording system up to date so that you can tell your inseminator before hand that this cow or heifer was inseminated lastly on that day or how much days have been passed since last insemination.
5. Check any toxins in your feed or try to give some toxin binders in the feed.
6.Keep an eye on that heifer continously.

7. Check the body score. It must be 3..Not more then 3.5 and not less then 2.5.
8. Check temperature while thawing the straw and time.Gun should be sterilized otherwise your heifer will get dirty instead of getting pregnant.
9.Check regularly the nitrogen gas for efficient storage.
10.Try to adopt above mentioned reccomendations for improved breeding.

Best of Luck
